Beth Moses

Beth Moses received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University in May 1987. She was named the Outstanding Electrical Engineer Senior at CSU in 1987.

Ms. Moses is currently a Product Manager for Hewlett-Packard Company in Greeley, Colorado. In this position, she manages the marketing process of future products. This includes coordinating market research, interfacing with customers and the design team to ensure that customer needs are met, and planning the product introduction to the marketplace. She has designed and presented technical training courses within Hewlett-Packard and traveled worldwide presenting technical papers and seminars to customers. She also managed a group of product marketing engineers for Agilent Technologies and lead her department’s hiring program for new and experienced positions.

The IEEE has been an important activity in Ms. Moses' career. She served as S-PAC Coordinator for IEEE Region 5, and she has been involved in S-PACs as a speaker since 1988. In addition, she held the position of treasurer in the IEEE Centennial Subsection. As a student Ms. Moses served as S-PAC chair and secretary for Colorado State University's IEEE Student Branch. In 1987 she competed and received several awards for her technical presentation and paper at the IEEE Student Paper Contest.

THE REAL WORLD

Ms. Moses combines her experiences from college and the workplace to describe the differences and similarities between the life of a student and life in the "real world." She discusses ways to be successful and how to achieve success in the first few years of a career. In addition, "The Real World" elaborates on barricades to success. These include sexual harassment, seniority, prejudice, and politics. Finally, Ms. Moses gives suggestions on how to choose the "perfect" company based on an individual's chance for success.
