Employment and Career Services Committee 3 May 2004--1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Attendees: Nigel Bristow, Ken Doniger, Jean Eason, Charles Elliott, Tarek Lahdhiri, David Macchiarolo and Lee Stogner Discussion #1 Nigel’s CamPlan Nigel answered the questions that were sent to him by e-mail. Ken had questions regarding the log in process. The committee resolved to have each person look over the plan again and e-mail all questions and comments to Nigel by May 24, 2004. Marnie will send a reminder e-mail on May 17, 2004 to send questions/comments to Nigel by the deadline. The committee also discussed having another teleconference on or about June 14, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. est. to go over Nigel’s CamPlan and new issues that may come up. Discussion #2 Global Signal Processing Expo & Conference Jean informed the committee about workshops options that could be held at the Conference. It was explained that topics dealing with job searches were off limits due to the fear of some employers that they could lose their employees to other companies. The workshops should be career related, job enhancements, project management, etc. Jean, Ken, Tarek and Lee have workshops they could give that are career related. Jean will also let the committee know exactly when the conference will be held. [The GSPx http://www.gspx.com/GSPX/index.html meeting to be held on 27-30 September 2004 in Santa Clara, CA.] Discussion #3 Fall ECS Meeting The committee decided on two dates in October for the fall meeting. Those dates were October 2 or 23, 2004. [AICN has tentatively scheduled a meeting on October 23rd] The areas were as follows: Rochester, NY, These choices are contingent upon what kind of assistance the local section leaders say they need from the committee.
