S-PAW
What is a Student Professional Awareness Workshop (S-PAW)?
An S-PAW is designed to be a fun, informative, and interactive workshop containing information on various aspects of growing personally in the area of professional awareness and developing leadership skills that you can use in your personal, academic, career and IEEE Student Branch areas. There will be lots of idea-sharing and discussions among the different schools and leaders who attend.
Who organizes an S-PAW?
S-PAWs are facilitated by members of the IEEE-USA Student Professional Awareness Committee (SPAC), which is made of up of IEEE Leaders from IEEE Regions 1 to 6 (USA).
Student leaders will initiate the workshop, make local arrangements, arrange lunch and breaks, advertise the event, and host the event. Involving multiple colleges and universities, as well as the local IEEE Sections, is encouraged.
Student Benefits
The conferences have potential to increase student membership and to encourage ongoing participation in IEEE. Additionally, these events provide students the opportunity to:
• Gain valuable leadership skills that you can use starting that day
• Network with your peers and other professionals
• S-PAW student organizing committee leaders gain valuable project management experience
S-PAW Topics
The topics are presented by the IEEE-USA Student Professional Awareness Committee and covered in this workshop deal with a wide range of issues that you will face in your career and as an IEEE Student leader, such as:
• Vision and Team Building
• Communication Skills
• Effective Meetings
• Time Management
• Professional Awareness
