Re: The National Science Education Acts
H.R. 4271, H.R. 4272 and H.R. 4273

Dear Rep. Ehlers:

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – United States of America (IEEE-USA) sincerely appreciates your dedicated leadership in Congressional efforts to improve the quality of teacher preparation and student performance in mathematics, science and technology education at the elementary and secondary school levels.

Taken together, your new National Science Education proposals provide a comprehensive legislative roadmap for essential K-12 math, science and technology educational reforms at the federal, state and local levels.

The National Science Education Act (H.R. 4271), The National Science Education Enhancement Act (H.R. 4272) and the National Science Education Incentive Act (H.R. 4273) should facilitate the kind of coordination across Federal programs that is needed to make a real difference in pre-college mat, science and technology education.

IEEE-USA applauds your vision and stands ready to support your efforts at every step of the legislative process. If there are specific actions that we might take in this regard, please contact Vin O’Neill in our Washington office.

Very Sincerely,

Merrill W. Buckley, Jr.
2000 IEEE-USA President
