Governor Appoints Carl F. Wick
to Ohio Governor Bob Taft appointed longtime IEEE-USA volunteer Carl F. Wick to the 19-member State Board of Education. Wick, of Centerville, Ohio, will serve a four-year term that will expire 31 December 2006. Wick is retired from NCR Corporation, where he directed the human resources function of some 4,500 product development engineers. Prior to joining NCR, Wick taught high school science and also served as an instructor at three colleges, including Wright State University. Mr. Wick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from the Ohio State University. Wick is a senior member of the IEEE and veteran IEEE-USA volunteer. He has chaired several IEEE-USA committees, including: the Career Maintenance and Development Committee, the Career Conference Committee, and most recently, the Employment and Career Services Committee. This is Wick's second appointment to Ohio's Board of Education. In 2001, Taft appointed Wick to fill a vacancy on the Board resulting from the departure of Diana M. Fressler. "We appointed Wick the first time and think he is very qualified," said Joe Andrews, a Taft spokesman.
