IEEE-USA Fund to Support Expansion of Teacher
In-Service Training in IEEE Regions 1 and 4

The Teacher In-Service Program (TISP) features IEEE Section volunteers sharing their technical acumen through the development and demonstration of technologically oriented subject matter to local pre-university educators in an in-service or professional development setting. IEEE Educational Activities, the programs administrator, estimates that TISP has already benefited more than 59,000 students. Thanks to a $50,000 grant from the IEEE-USA Fund, administered by the IEEE Foundation, TISP will be expanded to IEEE Regions 1 and 4 and is expected to triple the number of students reached by the program.

The expansion is scheduled to begin during March 2006 with the implementation of an introductory training session in both Regions. During the training sessions, IEEE members interested in implementing TISP in their Section will learn how to prepare and present topics for pre-university students, the best way to work with your local school district, and more.
