IEEE Annual Elections: Correction to IEEE-USA Ballot Categories

The 2006 IEEE Annual Election ballot materials have been mailed to the voting membership. Due to an error on the printed ballots, the IEEE-USA election categories and their associated candidates were inadvertently reversed. In other words, Russell J. Lefevre and Joseph V. Lillie should have been listed as candidates for IEEE- USA President-Elect instead of as candidates for IEEE-USA Member-at-Large. Similarly, Gary L. Blank and Gregg L. Vaughn should have been listed as candidates for IEEE-USA Member-at-Large rather than as candidates for IEEE-USA President-Elect.

The biographical material, the IEEE election Web site and the electronic ballot are all correct. Only the IEEE-USA ballot categories on the printed ballot are in error.

This printing error affects voting members in Regions 1-6. The IEEE will be mailing a 2006 revised ballot for the IEEE-USA slates only. The revised ballots will include a notice on the envelope and an explanation in the envelope.

Any votes cast for the IEEE-USA categories on the initial paper ballot will be invalidated. Any voting members who use the incorrect ballot materials for these two positions, and do not revote the IEEE-USA categories with the revised ballot, will be contacted personally by the vendor to urge them to cast their corrected ballot for the IEEE-USA categories.

The electronic ballot is correct so all electronic votes will be considered valid.

The IEEE apologizes to the candidates and members for this error.

If anyone has any questions, please contact Fern Katronetsky directly at [f.katronetsky@ieee.org] or [corp-election@ieee.org].
