| “Engineers today seem to be
the stealth profession, the silent occupation. … If we as engineers are
unwilling to responsibly speak out on issues within our realm of expertise, who
then will?” -- Norman R. Augustine, engineer and retired CEO of Lockheed Martin
(Excerpt from “L.A. Engineer”, The Bridge, Fall 1994). Engineers are “The world’s
greatest army devoted to good works” -- Edgar W. Howe.

Faces of
Innovation TM

Welcome to the
Faces
of Innovation TM,
a website and public awareness program sponsored by IEEE-USA to provide the
public with a better understanding of engineers: who we are, what we do and the
products or services that we create.
The engineers who volunteer and provide funds for this and similar projects are
doing so because we want others to understand that the political, social and
economic security of our nation is dependent upon a well-educated and
technically literate workforce and citizenry. When this is accomplished,
engineering will no longer be known as the “stealth profession” and our nation
will have people with the necessary interests, skills and knowledge for
maintaining and strengthening our future.
IEEE-USA is an organizational unit of The Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers created in 1973 to promote the careers and public-policy
interests of the more than 235,000 electrical, electronics, computer and
software engineers who are U.S. members of the IEEE. The IEEE is the world's
largest technical professional society.
