IEEE-USA Report Form for
Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

According to the National Science Foundation's Women, Minorities, and Persons With Disabilities in Science and Engineering 2000 report, women accounted for less than 10 percent of the total engineering labor force in 1997. To help increase awareness of the engineering profession among young people especially girls the engineering community launched the first-ever Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day on 22 February. The goal is to have 100 organizations mobilize its women and men engineers in order to reach one million girls.

*CONTEST*

IEEE-USA and the IEEE Women in Engineering Committee are participating in this outreach effort and invite U.S. members of the IEEE to help make this project a success. The challenge: Speak with as many young people as you can about engineering and then tell us about it. The three U.S. IEEE sections that reach out and talk to the most girls will be recognized publicly by IEEE-USA and the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) for their outstanding achievement. E-Week was 18-24 February, but you have until 1 April to complete your outreach effort(s).  You may contact as many young people as you would like. To report your activity, please fill out the form below and click 'enter.'

IEEE-USA will collate the data obtained from these forms and submit them to the E-Week Committee in early April. Those IEEE-USA sections with the most contacts will be notified later this year.

Please provide us with your contact information and scroll down to answer a few, short questions. If you do not wish to give us your mailing address, please provide us with your zip code so that we know where your outreach efforts took place.
