Overview
Learn
the IEEE Global History (GHN) goals,
contents and features and will show how
easy it is for IEEE members to log on
and participate directly in creating the
public historical record of electrical,
electronics and computer technologies.
The IEEE (GHN) is a bold, new Web site
dedicated to the histories of
electrical, electronics and computer
technologies. The IEEE GHN is a wiki
like Wikipedia. But unlike Wikipedia,
IEEE GHN encourages far more diverse
historical content. Like Wikipedia,
anyone can explore the IEEE GHN, but
unlike Wikipedia, writing to the IEEE
GHN is restricted to IEEE members, other
technical authorities and professional
historians. With the IEEE GHN, IEEE
members can be active collaborators in
the writing of history. They can share
their past experiences in designing,
developing, testing, manufacturing and
commercializing new products and
services. Users can also debate the
history of technological progress. The
IEEE GHN also empowers IEEE members to
collaborate in documenting the histories
of their societies, regions and
sections.
