Engineers have a duty to the public as well as to the profession. IEEE members are strongly encouraged to get involved in community activities.  The experience engineers bring to these activities is frequently of great benefit to the organizations, and the engineers, in turn, will likely benefit from participation in an activity unrelated to their normal work. Many of the skills developed by working in community activities are directly transferable to the business environment.

Use the Community Activities form to record:
  • Governmental — National and local
  • Rotary Club, Chambers of  Commerce
  • Working with young people — Scouting or Guiding — youth clubs
  • Red Cross — Rescue Squad
  • Work with the disabled, handicapped or underprivileged
Additional input:  Note competencies and skills used in activity which transfer to your workplace.
