FRIDAY TECHNICAL WORKSHOP

National Instruments - LabView
     Doug Kunz - Field Engineer, National Instruments
     Michael Bryner - Field Engineer, National Instruments

In this seminar you will learn how to build measurement and control applications using National Instruments LabVIEW graphical programming. You will work through examples that will:

* Show you how to measure in minutes using the latest USB data acquisition devices
* Teach you how to design LabVIEW control applications
IBM - Software Best Practices
     Anthony Crain - Senior Technical Specialist, IBM

How about one session called Modern Software Best Practices and Techniques

* Iterative Development with the Rational Unified Process
* Requirements Management in an Iterative Lifecycle
* Succeeding with Use Cases
* Enabling Portfolio Management
HP - Disaster Recovery
     Vishnu Pandey, Hewlett-Packard

In today's world businesses expect to be able to access their valuable data 24/7. Ensuring that this is possible involves being able to formulate the best recovery plan for the absolute worst scenario. In this class you will learn about the technologies currently available to assist you in remaining fully functional in the event of any type of disaster. The class will start with a basic overview of Storage Area Networks (SANs) and will then go in-depth into the actual architecting of a fully-redundant solution that provides the best protection for your data.
Freescale - Technologies & Tools
     John McLellan - Applications Engineering, University Program, Freescale Semiconductor

Description:The session will provide an overview of Freescale Semiconductor and their broad portfolio of technologies, innovative products, and services that are offered into education and industry. A demonstration of our latest learning environments ― Student Learning Kits and accompanying lab modules― geared for educational institutions and hobbyists.
RFID Technology
     Emily Sopensky - CEO, The IRIS Company
     Kristin Hedger - Director Business Development & Govt Affairs, Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing
     Gene Fedors - Vice President, Education Programs, RFID Technical Institute

Learn about RFID technology and applications for modern projects.
SEI Web-based training
     Jim Wrubel - VTE Team Lead, Software Engineering Institute

In 2004 the Software Engineering Institute faced a challenge - How to ensure that 500 U.S. Army Reservists could take a 10 day technical course on computer security while balancing their part-time status and global distribution. We developed the Virtual Training environment to meet the requirement and it is now used by nearly 100,000 users annually. Using a combination of video recording of classroom instruction, narrated demonstrations of techniques, and hands on training labs all deployable on demand through a standard Web browser, VTE brings high-fidelity classroom training to students regardless of time and place. This presentation will describe the key technologies used in VTE, demonstrate the application, and offer lessons learned.
